New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, one of the leading Muslim organizations, is disturbed at the increasing instances of sectarian violence among Muslims, and has expressed concern at such incidents occurred recently on the occasion of Muharram in Kanpur, Muradabad, Najibabad and other adjoining areas in Utter Pradesh.
Expressing his concern JUH president Qari Syed Mohammad Usman said: “We (Muslims) have already enough problems to deal with; these immature (acts) and completely uncalled for violence and destruction of properties on the name of sects are a very disturbing trend.”
It’s noteworthy here that violence arising out of sectarian differences among Muslims has caused substantial destruction of properties of the community and lives in areas like UP and elsewhere. Muharram is one of the occasions which witness these kinds of disturbing incidents. On 10th of Muharram (Dec 17), many incidents of violence and destruction of properties took place in different parts of UP.
The JUH chief has also criticized the local administration for its laziness and lack of proper measures to avoid any untoward incident. While appealing to Muslims to maintain calm and peace, Qari Usman has demanded the government to immediately arrest those responsible for these sectarian mishaps.
