Bhopal: As a sequel to its national conference in Delhi last month on Muslim reservation, the All India Imam Council (AIIC) has reasserted its demand for Muslim reservation through Husul-e-Insaaf Conference organized at Lavad, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on December 23.
According to a press release of AIIC, apart from leaders of the council, the conference was joined by Ulama, Imams of mosques, representatives of political parties, social workers, etc. from different districts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The resolutions passed at the conference comprised demands for implementation of the recommendations of Sachar Committee and Justice Rangnath Mishra Commission, proportionate reservation for Muslims in the state government services, release of innocent Muslim youths caught under framed cases of terrorism in different parts of the state, and appeal to the Muslim community to take education in the right earnest for progress and better development, promotion of austerity and Islamic values in marriage ceremonies, etc.
The conference was presided over by Maulana Junaid Qasmi, Imam Masjid–e-Bilal, Lavad, Meerut. The conference was addressed by the chief guest and the national convener of the AIIC Hafiz Manzoor Ali Khan, guest of honour and the SDPI’s convener of Delhi, Haryana & Punjab Abdul Rashid Agwan, Moulvi Mohammad Haneef Alwari, the AIIC’s state president of Rajasthan; Maulana Dr. Asrar Ahmad Falahi from Rajasthan; and Maulana Ibrahim, a leading personality of the area; etc.
Shahar Qazi Maulana Nafis Ahmad; Mohtmim of Madrasa Usmania; Qari Ubaid-ur-Rahman; and Mohtmim of Madrasa Faizul Islam Maulana Mujibur Rahman spoke for the motion of different resolutions. The local general secretary of AIIC Maulana Mustajab Haq welcomed the guests add the beginning of the conference.
Local BSP MLA Chandra Vir Singh, representatives of Samajwadi Party Atul Pradhan and Abdul Qadir, president Zila Parishad Meerut Manindra Pal supported the conference resolutions and assured their cooperation in realizing Muslim reservation, the release said. ([email protected])
