New Delhi: The protest demonstration after the Friday prayer, as planned by Shoaib Iqbal, the MLA from Matia Mahal assembly constituency, against the putting of idols within the premise of Paltanwali Masjid in Darya Ganj, was postponed this afternoon after the Lt. Governor of Delhi Tejendra Khanna assured him of patient hearing over the issue.
“We have postponed the demonstration after the honorable Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna promised me that he will look into the matter seriously and will do the needful,” said Mr. Iqbal while talking to TwoCircles.net
Mr. Iqbal said that the issue was of paramount importance because all the historical lands and mosques are illegally being encroached across the country and “precisely same thing is happening in case of Paltanwali Masjid.”
Interestingly, this morning, even before the demonstration was postponed, the atmosphere was calm in Darya Ganj and there was no report of communal tension from Delhi-6. There was no mass mobilization over the issue as such.
