Mumbai : A benchmark index of the Indian equities market was flat with a positive bias in the morning session Tuesday as gains in metal, realty and technology stocks offset losses in banking and oil and gas scrips.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened in the positive terrain at 20,056.47 points from the previous close of 20,028.93 points.
The Sensex was range-bound in the morning session and was ruling 0.12 percent or 23.77 points up at 20,052.70 points.
At the National Stock Exchange, 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was holding just above 6,000-point mark.
At the broader market, the BSE midcap and smallcap were also range-bound with positive bias.
The BSE metal index was ruling 0.67 percent higher after closing in the red Monday. The BSE realty index was almost one percent up.
