Kolkata: To purge the party of vices, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Wednesday decided to form a disciplinary commission.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s highest policy making body, the politburo, in the city.
“This decision has been taken by the politburo and it will be placed at the three-day central committee meeting beginning tomorrow (Thursday) for ratification,” CPI-M politburo member and state Industry Minister Nirupam Sen told mediapersons after emerging from the meeting.
At the politburo meeting, the members deliberated on their own shortcomings as also the inadequacies of the highest policy-making body.
The Ranganath Mishra Commission recommendations on reservation of jobs in government offices for Muslims and other minorities also formed a part of the parleys.
The rally called by the Left parties March 12 in Delhi was also a subject matter for discussion.
“All these matters will be further discussed at the central committee meeting for its final stamp of approval,” a party source said.
