A division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw asked the MCD to pay compensation to the families of both children who died.

It told the civic agency to pay Rs.50,000 to the mothers of Arshad, 4, and Armaan, 8, and deposit the rest in fixed deposits.

The two were playing in a park Nov 25 when they disappeared. Their bodies were later spotted by some children who had gone to play in the park.

The court had taken up the matter on its own.
