Kochi : A Kerala court Monday denied Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) plea to grant it custody of all 19 accused in the murder of Muthoot business group scion Paul M. George.
Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate denied the CBI plea but added that the investigative agency is free to question the accused in the jail.
According to the judge, the probe by CBI is not a fresh one but continuation of an earlier one by the Kerala police.
Last month, a division bench of the Kerala High Court asked the CBI to take over the probe after a plea from M.G. George Muthoot, the victim’s father.
The CBI was asked to complete the probe in six months’ time.
George was killed under suspicious circumstances near Alappuzha Aug 21 last year while travelling in a car with Om Prakash and Rajesh, both of whom face several criminal cases.
