Kolkata: West Bengal’s ruling Left Front major Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Monday accused Maoist sympathisers of indirectly fuelling violence across the state.
“Those who are writing songs in favour of Maoists and hitting the streets in demand of withdrawal of joint forces from Lalgargh are in fact instigating Maoist violence in the state.
“They are supporting Maoists who are randomly killing innocent people and security personnel for their vested political interest,” senior CPI-M leader and party’s central Committee member Mohd Salim told reporters here.
He said that many CPI-M cadres were at the receiving end of Maoist violence in many districts where more than two dozen Left supporters have been killed.
Earlier, Trinammool Congress MP Kabir Suman has composed songs supporting the cause of Maoists in the region.
A section of thinkers also staged protests demanding withdrawal of joint forces from Lalgarh and accused both the central and state governments of waging war on their own people.
