Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday discussed the security situation in the state with Governor N.N. Vohra in light of infiltration from across the Line of Control (LoC).
The meeting between the two lasted for over an hour.
The governor and the chief minister discussed the recent incidents in the valley and the action taken in response, according to an official release, referring to the killing of 16-year-old Zahid Farooq in Brain Nishat in Srinagar and the arrest of a BSF trooper Lakhvinder in this regard.
A commanding officer of BSF too is being questioned about the incident.
“They also discussed the overall security situation, particularly with regard to the continuing infiltration attempts in the Kashmir and Jammu zones,” the official release said.
The discussions relating to developmental issues included the elections to urban and rural local bodies and the need to further speed up work relating to all projected hydro-electric projects.
The chief minister briefed the governor about his recent tours to all parts of the state to review progress.
The chief minister referred to the significant issues arising from the meetings of the various District Development Boards which are being currently held under his chairmanship to monitor the pace of development projects, implementation of welfare schemes and the measures being taken to ensure their time-bound completion.
