Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University today issued a charge-sheet to Dr. S. R. Siras, Department of Modern Indian Languages who was suspended on February 9 on the ground of prima facie case of homosexuality.
The suspended teacher has been asked to submit reply within ten days. “Dr. Siras will be given a fair chance to respond. If the reply satisfied the University, the matter will be closed, failing which an enquiry committee will be set up as per the University procedures,” said Dr Rahat Abrar, PRO, AMU.
The University further clarified that it was not a party to any alleged sting operation nor it has commissioned camera team for any kind of operation nor it will be carrying on any such camera recording in its campus apartments in future.
“The University respects the privacy of a teacher living in its premises but it also expects everyone to behave in a respectful manner giving due regard to its valued cultural ethos and the campus sensitivity including their neighbours’ concerns and to the great moral credentials that AMU has been nurturing since its inception,” Dr Abrar said.
