New Delhi : The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) found 77 government officials guilty of corruption in the month of November 2009, and sanctioned prosecution against three while slapping major penalty against the rest of them, a statement issued here said Sunday.
In a press release, the commission said it has sanctioned prosecution against three officials, including one each from the Indian Overseas Bank, the Central Board of Excise and Customs, and the Department of Defence Production.
Besides, the CVC said of the 74 government officials against whom it has advised imposition of major penalties, 22 were from the ministry of railways, 15 from Central Coalfields Ltd, 14 from public sector banks and four each from the Delhi Development Authority and the Central Board of Excise and Customs.
The press release said that the CVC disposed of 970 cases during November 2009, which were referred to it for advice.
“The commission disposed of 970 complaints during the month. Of these, 728 complaints were sent for necessary action/ATR whereas 142 complaints were sent for investigation and report,” it added.
