New Delhi: Hockey India (HI) finds itself in another mess with players asking their national federation to pay their long pending match fees.
Indian hockey captain Rajpal Singh told IANS that the players have written a letter to HI president Ashok Kumar Mattoo in this regard.
The Indian team had recently participated in the Champions Challenge I tournament in Argentina.
Rajpal said they have never received any match fees from HI for any tournament.
“We have not received any money from Hockey India (HI). So we have written a letter to the president, requesting him to clear our payment. We have also spoken to our coaches to speak to the president,” Rajpal told IANS.
The team is currently training in Pune’s Balewadi complex.
Rajpal, however, strongly denied that they have threatened to pull out of the camp if they are not paid within seven days.
“No, we have not threatened to pull out from the camp. How can we do that? We love the game and we know that we are playing for our country,” he said.
The revelation comes at time when HI is struggling to hold an election as several issues with regards to the affiliation process to states have come up.
