The meeting lasted for 15 minutes. Chandrasekhara Rao was accompanied by K. Jayashankar, a Telangan ideologue who represented TRS during the eight-party talks with the central government Jan 5.

Rao has been camping in Delhi for the past five days in the hope of the central government making a positive announcement about the consultation process for formation of a new state of Telangana.

Rao did not speak to reporters after meeting the prime minister.

With the central government yet to make an announcement on initiating the process for statehood to Telangana, the all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC) will hold a crucial meeting in Hyderabad Tuesday to chalk out its future course of action.

TRS is insisting that the central government should clearly state the objective of consultation process for formation of Telangana and it should not go back on its Dec 9 announcement to initiate the process of formation of a new state.
