Economic recovery triggers more hiring by Infosys

Mysore : In the wake of a recovery from the economic recession by the Indian IT industry, global software major Infosys Technologies and its subsidiaries stepped up hiring during the third quarter of this fiscal.

The net addition has jumped to 4,429 employees in the quarter under review (Q3) sequentially from 1,548 in second quarter of this fiscal and 2,772 from the third quarter a year ago.

Similarly, gross addition increased to 8,719 in Q3 from 6,069 in second quarter and 5,997 a year ago.

“Our strategy of investing in enhanced training during the downturn has enabled us to grow rapidly as the recovery begins,” company board member and head of HRD and education and research T.V. Mohandas Pai said in a statement.

As a result, the total employees’ strength has increased to 109,882 at the end of third quarter from 105,433 in second quarter this fiscal and 103,078 year ago.

“We have adequate capacity to meet the needs of the market place,” Pai added.
