Washington : The Obama Administration is continuing “significant” discussions with Pakistan, India and Afghanistan on ways to achieve regional stability, the State Department said.
Assistant Secretary of State P J Crowley cited senior American officials’ continuing engagments with the regional governments towards the goal of cooperation and stability.
“Not only Secretary (Robert) Gates, Secretary (Hillary) Clinton, others we continue to have significant dialogue with the Government of Pakistan, the Government of India, the Government of Afghanistan about how we can have stability, dialogue and cooperation across the region,” Crowley said.
He was responding to a question about U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates’s visit to South Asia, which took him to all three countries.
“That is ultimately how jointly, these countries together with the United States, together with the international community, will be able to stabilize the region and defeat and deter political extremists who threaten, in different ways, all three countries.
“This is a common challenge, and it is part of our ongoing dialogue with all three countries,” he added.
