Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Wednesday approved its annual plan of Rs.3,000 crore (Rs.30 billion) for the year 2010-11, which is Rs.300 crore more than the previous year.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal told reporters that the plan, approved by Himachal Pradesh State Planning Board, gives special priority to the social services sector.
“The social services sector has been accorded the top priority by allocating Rs.1,010.79 crore in the plan. This comes out to be 33.69 percent of the total proposed plan,” the chief minister said.
According to him, creating basic infrastructure for education was accorded priority in the past three years of the 11th Five Year Plan and it would continue in the next two years to make the state a world-class education hub in the country.
For developing transportation and communication, Rs.588.93 crore has been proposed and for the energy sector, a provision of Rs.354.37 crore had been made, he said.
The economy of the tiny hill state is highly dependent upon tourism, hydropower generation and horticulture.
