New Delhi: A senior official of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs fell ill allegedly after drinking “poisoned” tea served by a woman subordinate here, police said Friday.
V.B. Singh, a director in the ministry, reported nausea and giddiness after consuming the tea Thursday afternoon in his office and was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, a police officer said.
He was later discharged from the hospital.
According to police, Singh said that his subordinate served the tea and after taking two to three sips, he felt nausea.
Singh alleged that when he checked the cup, he found some tablets inside and claimed the woman spiked the drink as she was angry at him for initiating disciplinary action against her, the officer added.
