Brussels : The European Union (EU) Friday allocated two million euros ($2.52 million) in humanitarian aid for the people affected by the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Fatalities still occur in the region, and armed groups have recently vowed to spread more violence, hampering the work of humanitarian aid organisations in these areas,” EuAsiaNews reported citing a statement by the European Commisison.
“The funds will benefit over 100,000 people covering the protection of conflict-related detainees and civilians, as well as health and psychological support to the most vulnerable people, in particular women, children and disabled persons,” the statement said.
The EU also announced the allocation of 1.5 million euros to provide relief to Bhutanese refugees scattered across seven refugee camps in the eastern districts of Nepal.
