The University has not reportedly been able to conduct classes or examinations in time even though the authorities of Arabic Colleges had made the request several times. It has been weeks since the class of other graduate courses began but there is no certainly on when the BA Afdhal courses would begin. BA Afdhal-ul Ulema course also have the credit and semester system like other graduate courses. Reports suggest that the exams for the first and second semesters were held together as classes were begun late last year. The reason was the delay in the announcement of the result of the preliminary Afdhal as well the delay in beginning the classes of BA Afdhal.

The authorities of the Arabic Colleges have reportedly talked with the University’s Pareeksha Bhavan (Examinations department) officials on the matter. Yet things are moving this year also just as in the last year. The preliminary exams were held in mid-May. Centralised valuation is conducted in the second year of the preliminary. The University reportedly takes the papers for valuation from the examination centres only after months. And this leads to the delay in valuation.

Najiya, a student waiting for her preliminary Afdhal-ul Ulema result in Kannur told TCN that she was not able to join any course as the results were being delayed. “The Afdhal course is being suppressed. Strikes and newspaper reports are very essential for the Afdhal exams or results to come.”

According to a new rule, students who have learned Arabic in plus two course also can join the BA Afdhal-ul Ulema. Earlier, only those who did the preliminary course could go for the BA course. However, the new rule also fails to help the students as the admission to the BA course is getting late.
