Ludhiana (Punjab) : At least three unidentified youths robbed Rs.42 lakh from employees of a bread company in this industrial hub of Punjab and escaped in what appeared to be stolen cars Monday, police said.
According to police, the car-borne youths waylaid the officials of Bonn bread company, a leading bread manufacturer in Punjab, at Focal Point industrial area here around noon and looted the money.
“The miscreants had come in (Toyota) Corolla and Fortuner cars. Three-four youths came out of the Corolla and snatched the bag containing money, whereas occupants of the Fortuner kept a watch from a distance,” Investigating Officer Sandeep Wadhera told IANS Monday.
“The Corolla car used in the crime was stolen from a multiplex in Ludhiana few days back. Company officials said that there were Rs.42 lakh in the bag and they were going to deposit it in bank,” he said.
Ludhiana is around 100 km from state capital Chandigarh.
