Bengaluru: The anticipatory bail plea submitted by Abdunnasir Ma’dani, 31st accused in the Bengaluru blast case, was yesterday postponed to July 29 for consideration by the Karnataka High Court. The decision was taken by the Criminal Single Bench Judge Js N Ananda as the prosecution asked for more time for his counter-argument when the plea was considered yesterday.

Ma’dani submitted the plea in the Karnataka High Court as an earlier plea was rejected by the Bengaluru fast-track court. Adv P Usman of the Hegde associates argued for Ma’dani. The prosecution was represented by Government pleader Balakrishna. The plea was considered first in the High Court on July 15. The Court had asked Public Prosecutor Vijayakumar to present the counter-arguments in a week, thus postponing the plea to yesterday (July 22).

The First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has extended the time limit of the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Ma’dani to August 3.

Ma’dani, chairman of Kerala’s People’s Democratic Party, was named in the additional chargesheet of the Bengaluru blast case as the 31st accused. The chargesheet reportedly accuses him of taking part in the conspiracy for the blast. However, Ma’dani has pleaded innocence in the charges against him. He has also expressed his faith in the judiciary and willingness to accept the decision of the court of justice. Cultural leaders in Kerala have come up demanding justice to Ma’dani and against framing him in false cases.
