The ‘Deshabhimani’ daily run by the CPI (M) had reportedly carried a news on July 17 calling the NDF (the NDF was dismantled to form the PFI) as a religious terrorist group which killed 21 persons in 14 years. Complaint has been filed against the newspaper’s Chief Editor VV Dakshinamoorthy, P Jayarajan (MLA) and printer and publisher EP Jayarajan.

The ‘Keralashabdam’ weekly’s August issue had reportedly carried an article accusing the PFI of being a Pakistani organisation and of receiving foreign funds in the name of religious propagation. Complaint has been filed against Dr BA Jayarajan (editor, printer and publisher) and Ajayan (reporter).

Complaint was filed against ‘Jeevan TV’ sub-editor Dipin Damodaran reportedly for a news story titled ‘An Indian edition of the Taliban’ given in the online news on July 19.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that no decision had been taken to ban the Popular Front of India. A decision will be taken on the matter only after the investigation of the NIA on different cases. He was responding to the queries of media persons in New Delhi.

The NIA investigation includes cases related to the banned SIMI such as the Panayikkulam and Wagamon cases. The NIA is also investigating whether the activists of the PFI are the former members of the SIMI. However, the NIA has not yet informed the Kerala government of its developments in the investigation. The banning of any organisation needs proof and evidence. The government is observing the activities of the PFI for that. The government does not believe that problems can be solved by banning any organisation, he added.
