The Qutub Minar-Gurgaon leg of the line is already operational.

“The work on the Central Secretariat-Qutub Minar stretch is complete with only minor finishing work being done at present. Trial runs on the 12.53 km stretch is going on in full-swing,” a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson said.

He said after the line comes opens, the INA Metro station will become one of the most important commercial station in south Delhi as it will cater to three major markets at INA and Sarojini Nagar, as also to the Delhi Haat.

The spokesperson said the INA Metro station has been provided with five escalators and six automatic fare collection (AFC) gates.

According to him, the Metro has achieved a major engineering feat between the INA and Jor Bagh stations by constructing two tunnels below the Indian Railways track and the Safdarjung flyover without hampering railway and vehicular traffic even for a day.

“The tunnelling was done 12 metres below the earth’s surface,” he said.

The Delhi Metro has also restored three parks covering a 9,000 square metre area above the INA station.
