The state has been witnessing heavy rains since Saturday because of low pressure area over Orissa.

Several key roads, including National Highway 221, have been blocked in Dantewada district and other districts throughout the state. Also, hundreds of houses in urban areas, including low lying areas in Raipur, have been submerged.

A police official said three people died when a wall collapsed in Surguja district while three were swept away in swelling rivers in Raipur and Bastar districts.

The schedule of several local trains has been revised as tracks in Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund districts were submerged, a railway official said.

The state would continue to receive normal to heavy rainfall till Monday night, meteorological department official M.L. Sahu said Monday.
