Bhopal: Power-starved Madhya Pradesh will add 5,486 MW power by 2013-14 with several under-construction thermal power projects to be commissioned by then, an official said Saturday.
“Madhya Pradesh is striving hard to get over the power crisis with several coal-fired under-construction projects, including the 1,200 MW Malwa thermal power project, set to be commissioned by 2013-14,” a senior energy department official told IANS.
He added that the state will add 724 MW power in 2010-11, 1,295.5 MW in 2011-12, 1,911.5 MW in 2012-13 and 1,555 MW in 2013-14.
Madhya Pradesh has an installed power capacity of 3,847.5 MW, including hydropower capacity of some 915 MW.
The state faces around 1,200 MW power shortfall that goes up to 1,500 MW during peak hours.
