Convened within 24 hours of the Allahabad High Court ruling putting a stay on the setting up of the off-campus centres of AMU, the Aligarh Muslim University Court, the supreme governing body of the university, has extended a massive support to the initiative of AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis by approving the amendments forwarded by the Executive Council by 106 in favour and 4 against, thus clearing the deck for the establishment of new centres of AMU outside Aligarh.

The AMU Court almost unanimously approved the recommendations of the Executive Council for the amendment of Statutes to establish the Murshidabad and Malappuram Centres of Aligarh Muslim University.
