Melbourne : A 61-year-old Indian man was found dead with stab injuries in Australia, police said Monday.
The man, who had been living in Doncaster for some time, was found dead next to a parkland in the Koonung Creek reserve, near Estelle Street, Bulleen, about 10.50 a.m. Sunday, head of homicide, Bernie Edwards, was quoted as saying by The Age.
He said the deceased, father of two, lived on the other side of the bridge, which crosses the Eastern Freeway.
“We are still investigating how he got to the bottom of the bridge,” he said, adding that the injuries might have occurred somewhere away from the scene.
Blood has been found on the bridge, and police are scouring nearby area for any signs of a knife or sharp-edged weapon.
Edwards said the family have asked the details of the man’s identity not to be released.
It was particularly cold yesterday morning so there would have been few pedestrians in the area. Though Edward said it was not unusual for the man to go for an early morning walk in the park.
