Delhi’s women centres to be made employment oriented

New Delhi : Around 100 centres in the city which train women from weaker sections of society will be linked with employment institutions to provide jobs to these women, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Friday.

She said the step will help instill confidence in the trained woman. The gender resource centres help accelerate the pace of women development and also works for women empowerment.

Women trained in these centres make embroidery, decorative pieces and other items. Dikshit said she will explore markets for such products.

“The government will link these centres with employment offering institutions and establishments,” she said after visiting some centres in the capital.
