New Delhi : The Congress Monday appointed district and divisional observers in Bihar to get an assessment about the party’s preparations for the assembly polls in the state later this year.
The observers were appointed both at the central and state levels. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers for districts include several sitting and former MPs and legislators. Of the 39 AICC district observers, 16 are from Rajasthan.
The party has also appointed nine AICC secretaries as divisional observers.
The appointments were made by union minister and AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik who was appointed the state in-charge earlier this month.
Congress sources said the observers will give a report about the party’s preparations in various assembly segments in their districts and also look at prospective party candidates.
They said that the party was trying to make up for the loss caused by infighting among the party leaders in the past few months.
“The party is showing a sense of urgency about its poll preparations. The elections are still about five months away and the party is keen to put its best foot forward,” an AICC leader said.
