“Yeddyurappa has no moral right to continue in office after what Hegde said about his government,” JD-S state president and former chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy asserted Saturday.

Hegde, a retired Supreme Court judge, resigned Wednesday with a scathing attack on the Yeddyurappa government for “ignoring, over-ruling and being indifferent” to his suggestions to curb corruption in the state.

“This is a verdict against the government,” Kumaraswamy, who was chief minister for 20 months with Yeddyurappa as his deputy in the JD-S-BJP coalition government in the state in 2006-2007, told reporters here.

The Congress, the largest opposition party in the state with 74 members in the 225-member assembly, said it will move an adjournment motion on the Hegde issue when the assembly session begins Monday.

The party will move a resolution in the assembly seeking more powers for the Lok Ayukta, state Congress president R.V. Deshpande told reporters here.
