Gurgaon : A man has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a 17-year-old South Korean girl, studying in an upscale school of this satellite town of the national capital, police said Tuesday.
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-Crime Anil Dhawan told reporters here that Azad was arrested Monday night while his accomplices Tahir and Shakir were absconding.
“The motive was to rob the car as they belong to a carjacker gang. But they kidnapped the girl also and demanded a ransom of Rs.1 lakh,” he said.
The girl was rescued hours after she was allegedly kidnapped at gun point by the accused Thursday.
Police also recovered the Santro car in which the girl was abducted.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner S.S. Deswal had said the student, studying in Pathways School, was kidnapped when she was on her way to school.
