“The kerosene meant for the BPL families is being smuggled to Bangladesh. The BPL families have to buy kerosene at Rs.30 per litre,” Congress legislator Mannan Mallik said during question hour in the state assembly.

“I have been raising the issue for a time that kerosene allocated for distribution among BPL families at a subsidised rate in Dhanbad district is smuggled to Bangladesh. Despite my repeated demands to stop the smuggling, no action has been taken,” he said.

Sawna Lakra, another Congress legislator, had raised the issue of irregularities in the distribution of kerosene to BPL families. The Jharkhand government in its reply said each BPL household gets four litre of kerosene.
