Ranchi: Two lawyers are under scanner of the Jharkhand Bar Council for allegedly giving and accepting bribes to hush up the Madhu Koda scam case.
A sting operation CD, released last week, purportedly showed advocate Reetu Kumar and former standing counsel Rajendra Krishnan doing a deal to hush up the case.
Reetu Kumar is the lawyer for Durga Oraon who filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Jharkhand High Court in 2008, seeking a probe into assets of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda and five former state ministers. She was allegedly paid Rs.20 lakh by Krishnan on behalf of the accused.
“The case has been brought to the notice of the bar council and prima facie it has been found (to be) true. The matter has been referred to disciplinary committee for necessary action,” state Bar Council chairman P.C. Tripathy told IANS.
