Thrissur (Kerala) : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka and her husband Robert Vadra made a flying visit here Wednesday afternoon to attend the wedding of a close aide’s son.
They attended the wedding of Deepak, son of Madhavan Bhattathiripad who works in the office of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Rahul, wearing a white kurta and pyjama, and Priyanka, in a green saree, spent nearly 45 minutes at the wedding venue. They had lunch and went back to Kochi to fly back to Delhi.
Seeing the VIPs, some enthusiastic Congress leaders started shouting slogans. Rahul intervened and asked them not to shout slogans as it was a private affair.
State Congress president Ramesh Chennithala, who also attended the wedding, told IANS that since this was a personal visit, Rahul did not meet any party leaders.
