Chennai : Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu and AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa Friday termed the state budget for 2010-11 “inflationary”.
“A budget is one which pictures the state’s economy, production, industrial growth and welfare activities. On reading the budget for 2010-11 it is not known whether the state is proceeding on the growth path,” Jayalalithaa said.
“What is clearly seen is that attractive schemes have been announced with an eye on the state elections and the growing deficit,” she added.
Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan Friday presented a deficit budget with no additional tax for the financial year 2010-11 in the newly inaugurated state legislative assembly.
Stating that a deficit budget is good if it has some long range plans for the nation’s growth, she said the budget presented by the Tamil Nadu government “is inflationary and would continue to keep the poor as poor”.
