Beijing : A man stabbed and killed six children and injured seven at a primary school in east China’s Fujian province Tuesday, authorities said.
The injured children were taken to hospital, where their conditions were described as stable, said a statement from the publicity department of Nanping Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Police arrested a middle-aged man in connection with the attack that took place at 7.20 a.m., Xinhua news agency reported.
The statement said he was a former community clinic doctor, who had been dismissed from his post and allegedly had mental problems.
The Experimental School in Nanping City, where the attack happened, has been closed.
