The incident took place between Bishra and Bandhamunda stations around 1.30 a.m. in Sundergarh district, over 500 km from here.

“(The Maoists used) land mines. Five wagons derailed,” said V.K. Srivastav, a senior divisional commercial railway manager.

Three wagons were also damaged. The train was going towards Manoharpur.

“Repair work is going on in full swing,” he added.

Several long distance trains got stranded at different stations due to the sabotage. Three express trains were cancelled while several long distance trains were diverted.
