Acting on a complaint of Rajender Singh Khattana, a resident of Faridabad, police arrested Sanjiv Sharma Thursday afternoon.

“On interrogation, Sharma disclosed that a businessman Neeraj Aggarwal had to pay Rs.600,000 to Khattana for sale and purchase of a plot. But he could not repay it. So, he hatched a plan with Sharma to blackmail Khattana and extort money from him,” a senior police officer said.

“They took a flat on rent in Kalkaji. Posing as a female insurance agent, Sharma talked to Khattana and developed friendship with him. When Khattana agreed to meet personally, Sharma and Aggarwal arranged for a sex worker and sent her to meet the complainant at the flat,” the officer added.

“The flat was already fitted with cameras and the sexual acts between the complainant and the sex worker were recorded. A CD was also prepared. A week after that, Sharma contacted Khattana as a reporter and told him that his sexual activities with the insurance girl have been recorded,” he said.

“An amount of Rs.800,000 was finalised to settle the matter. Sharma also threatened the complainant that the CD would be supplied in the market if his demands were not met immediately,” the officer added.

The police have seized a porn CD, four mobile phones, two spy cameras and two press cards.

“We are verifying his press cards. We are also looking at roles of other persons in the case. Aggarwal is absconding and efforts are on to arrest him,” the officer added.
