AMU alumnus offers Rs 12 crore for new Management Complex at AMU

Aligarh: Mr. Ameer Ahmad, an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has visited AMU recently and offered to bear the cost of construction of new Management Complex inside the campus in Aligarh. The proposed complex is estimated to cost Rs 12 crore. Mr. Ameer Ahmad is currently Managing Director of an international firm in Oman.

Mr. Ahmad who did MBA in 1978 from AMU is currently Managing Director, Agnice International and Partners LLC, Sultanate of Oman.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis has appreciated the gesture shown by Mr. Ameer Ahmad. Prof. Azis said that such initiative will pave the way for further development in the University.

Mr. Ameer Ahmad has promised a personal donation of Rs one crore. The rest amount will be generated by Mr. Ahmad from other AMU alumni from across the world. Of his own share, he has deposited Rs 25 lakh with university. He will send the rest soon.

The Vice Chancellor along with Mr. Ameer Ahmad and Professor Javed Akhtar, Dean Faculty of Management Studies, today visited the site of the proposed Management Complex.

The foundation stone of the proposed complex will be laid down in May 2010 by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis and will be completed by July 2012. The University will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Mr. Ameer Ahmad to this effect in near future.

The proposed building will be equipped with ultra modern state-of-the-art facilities. The Management Department has also planned to offer training to AMU staff and industry personnel from outside.
