Jamia Millia expels 3 students for sexual harassment on campus

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has expelled its three students after complaints of sexual harassment against them were found true after investigation. The university has not disclosed the details about the incidents, nor the identity of the guilty students or victims. The university authorities had received complaints of incidents of sexual harassment inside the campus. The university has also imposed campus ban on the guilty students.

“After receiving complaints and carrying out investigations, the Proctorial department of the University recently found three students guilty of being involved in different cases of sexual harassment on campus. Taking a serious view of this development, the University has expelled all three students from the university and a campus ban has also been imposed on them,” said the university in a press statement today.

The university also warned that there will be zero tolerance for “elements that are found to indulge in any instance of sexual harassment on campus.”

“Jamia Millia Islamia, as an institution, has zero tolerance for those elements that are found to indulge in any instance of sexual harassment on campus. In order to send a strong message to potential offenders, the university has taken exemplary and firm action against those who have been found to indulge in sexual harassment on campus in the last few days.”
