New Delhi : Shyam Saran, the prime minister’s former envoy on climate change, Tuesday said he has joined the Centre for Policy Research, a Delhi-based think tank.
Saran, who was India’s foreign secretary for over two years from 2004 to 2006, joined the Centre for Policy Research as senior fellow from May 1.
Asked what his area of specialisation would be, Saran told IANS: “I will be looking at all areas…climate change, energy security, foreign policy, nuclear issues…”.
He said this was not a full-time position, but more of an honorary post.
Saran demitted office March 14 as the prime minister’s special envoy on climate change over differences with Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on India’s stand at the Copenhagen climate summit last year.
