Chief Judicial Magistrate N.K. Agrawal rejected the bail petition while police in Koderma continued to interrogate Sudha in jail in connection with her daughter’s death.

Police had filed a petition seeking Sudha’s remand but the court rejected this Friday, saying the mother could be questioned in jail.

Sudha was arrested May 3 on murder charges after her daughter Nirupama was found dead in her home April 29.

The family members insist that Nirupama committed suicide but her boyfriend Priyabhanshu Ranjan alleges that she was killed as the family was against their relationship.

Jharkhand Police interrogated Ranjan and his friends in New Delhi. A case of rape and murder has also been filed against Ranjan on the directions of the court.

Nirupama’s autopsy report has also added to the confusion on the cause of death. Doctors who conducted the autopsy say it is a case of murder but have failed establish how Nirupama was killed.

The autopsy said Nirupama was 10-12 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.

The police Wednesday submitted their investigation progress report to Jharkhand Police chief Neyaz Ahmad. They are now awaiting the forensic report to carry forward the investigation.
