Dr Ahmed Ashfaque Karim is more known as chairman of Katihar Medical College than a politician. When he says: Probe into Batla House encounter is must, there is no doubt it was a fake encounter, Delhi Police killed innocent youths and branded them as terrorists. His statement appears on the front page of Patna edition of the leading Urdu daily Roznama Rashtriya Sahara.

Karim, who recently joined politics and is now National Vice President of Lok Janshakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan, further says on the Batla House: It’s time the Batla encounter be probed by a parliamentary committee to bring out the truth. In the last few years, Muslim youths have been implicated in terror cases, and now the real face and truth are coming out.

In its editorial on the same topic today, Pindar Urdu daily from Patna, has appreciated the demonstration at Jantar Mantar by Ulema of different groups to demand judicial probe into the Batla encounter. The papers says that in today’s world when every issue is solved by a political key, the Muslim community should use this power to change the rulers who are silently watching the atrocities of security agencies on the community and their Muslim youths.

Patna is about 1000 kms from Batla House area in Jamia Nagar of South Delhi where the encounter took place on September 19, 2008. The gunshots fired at Batla House were heard throughout the country at that time, it is still reverberating.
