New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday condemned the Canadian High Commission for describing the Border Security Force (BSF) as a “notoriously violent paramilitary unit” and denying a visa to a retired BSF trooper.
BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “We condemn the remarks made by the Canadian authorities. The country will not accept any remark like this against a soldier of our country.”
He said that it is an insult and demanded a response from the government.
The Canadian High Commission last December last year rejected a visa request from retired BSF constable Fateh Singh Pandher, describing the paramilitary force as “notoriously violent force” and alleging “war crimes”.
“We want a response from the government on this. Our police forces and all the security officials are fighting various threats to the country and these remarks cannot be tolerated,” Rudy said.
