Hyderabad : A man was chased near the Nampally Criminal Court, in the heart of the city, in broad daylight Monday and hacked to death in a nearby flat, police said.
“Mohammed Afzal was involved in several criminal cases, including murder. He had come to court for some work,” police said.
He fled on being chased by some men armed with knives and other sharp-edged weapons.
Eyewitnesses told police that the victim ran into a nearby flat, but the men barged into the building after assaulting the security guard. They chased him into the kitchen, and hacked him to death.
The incident shocked residents of the building and the Red Hills area.
Afzal, a resident of M.S. Makta area in the city, was also a relative of gangster Ayub Khan.
Police suspect the involvement of Abdul Salam, a rival gangster.
