“No evidence was found against BSP MLA Chandra Bhadra Singh that could prove his involvement in the murder of Ram Kumar Yadav,” Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal said.

Singh represents the Isauli assembly seat in Sultanpur district, some 150 km from Lucknow.

Yadav, who was posted as revenue official in Bhikapur of the adjoining Faizabad district, went missing while returning from panchayat poll duty Oct 25.

His mutilated body was found Oct 26 in Dakhinwara village in Sultanpur.

Following this, a police case was registered against the legislator and his brother Yashbhadra Singh, along with several other people.

Police have arrested seven people, including the legislator’s brother, in connection with the murder.
