122nd birth anniv of Maulana Azad being celebrated at MANUU

Hyderabad: To mark the 122nd birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad– the first education minister of independent India — Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing various educational and cultural programs from 8th Nov while 11th Nov—the birthday of Maulana Azad—will be celebrated as Azad Day at the university.

On that day a function will be held at DDE Auditorium wherein Prof. Mohammed Iqbal Ali, Vice-Chancellor, Satavahana University Karimnagar, AP will deliver the Azad Day Lecture. Prof. Mohammad Miyan, Vice-Chancellor of MANUU will preside over the program while Mr. Jannat Hussain, Chief Information Commissioner, Govt. of A.P., will grace the program as chief guest.

During the 4-day celebrations literary and cultural events like Dastangoi, Tamseeli Mushairah & Sham-e-Ghazal were organized. Writing completion on ‘The Current scenario of the country and importance of Azad’s thought’ was one of them in which many students from different universities participated. Abdullah of MANUU was declared first and Abdul Qadir Siddiqi of the same university got second position in the writing competition while Somayya Tamkin of University of Hyderabad stood third. They will be given prizes at the function tomorrow.

At another program held by Hindi department of MANUU today, the Hindi version of the book Maulana Azad: Vision and Action was released.
