Congress pulls up BJP over parliament protests

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Congress Monday took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for repeatedly stalling parliament saying it should ask its MPs not to take emoluments without doing any work.

“Those who stall proceedings, they should not claim allowance for that day,” Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said.

He said parliament was a forum for debate and not a platform for slogan raising and people had expectations from their elected representatives.

“The way BJP is acting for the past few days gives a message that it believes in mobocracy and not democracy,” he said.

Opposition MPs led by the BJP are demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum controversy that has led to the resignation of Communication and IT Minister A. Raja.
