SCI inducts a new oil tanker in its fleet

Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India Tuesday accepted delivery of its fifth Large Rane-I product tanker from a South Korean shipbuilder.

The new tanker, christened MT Swarna Krishna, is one of the six ordered to the STX Shipyard, South Korea
.
With a gross tonnage of 42,845 tonnes and deadweight of 73,368 tonnes, the vessel is built to comply with international regulations.

Energy transportation is the core business segment of SCI and the induction of the vessel into its fleet would further strengthen its position in the sector.

Four vessels have been delivered in the past three months. The last in the series is expected to be delivered later this month.

With the addition of MT Swarna Krishna, the SCI’s fleet goes up to 75 vessels, besides another 28 vessels on order from different shipyards in India and abroad, four of which shall join the fleet this year.
