According to the reports during the prayer when the Vandana was being sung, these students were silent after which the principal asked them to sing along with other students. When they refused to do so, they were asked to call their guardians.

On the other hand the principal reportedly denied forcing the students to sing the Vandana. Although he pointed out that the Vandana is being sung in the 35000 schools of Vidya Mandir, the organization which runs these schools.

Saying that Sraswati is the goddess of knowledge, he denied any controversy on singing of the Vandana any where in the country.
